About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The agency seeks to purchase five interactive sand-tables from Simtable LLC to support training, planning, review, simulation, and demonstration relating to the prevention, mitigation, and suppression of wildfires, as well as the planning and application of prescribed fire, as provided by Florida Statutes Chapter 590. The estimated contract amount is up to $248,925, with a term from the date of execution through June 30, 2025.

The justification for the single source acquisition is that the Simtable Sandtables will enhance the Florida Forest Service's training and planning capabilities for wildfire detection, prevention, mitigation, and suppression, using real-time simulated and recorded weather, fuel, and topographical data to create realistic scenarios. These sandtable exercises are already a common teaching method employed by the agency, albeit without data input, and can serve to inform both fire managers and the public of potential fire scenarios, and reenact previous scenarios.
