About this file

This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) filed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for the procurement of MiSeq Reagent and Library Prep Supplies from Illumina, Inc. The Division of Food Safety seeks to purchase Illumina-manufactured sequencing reagents, DNA library preparation kits, indexing sets, PhiX sequencing controls, and MiSeq reagent kits necessary to operate the Division's Illumina MiSeq sequencing instrument. These consumables include Illumina DNA Prep (M) Tagmentation kits, MiSeq reagent kits, unique dual indexing kits, and Illumina PhiX Control v3, all required to support the Division's regulatory DNA testing workflows. The notice was posted on August 24, 2026, with a deadline of September 15, 2026, for prospective vendors to submit information regarding their ability to supply the requested commodities. The contract is intended for execution through June 30, 2027.

The estimated contract amount ranges from approximately $40,000.00 to $75,000.00. The justification for single source acquisition is that Illumina, Inc. is the only manufacturer and global supplier capable of providing the proprietary sequencing reagents, library preparation kits, indexing sets, and quality control materials specifically designed for the Illumina MiSeq sequencing platform. These materials are non-substitutable consumables essential for ensuring continuity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance within the Division's laboratory testing program. The procurement is contingent upon the agency's determination, after reviewing any information received from prospective vendors, that the commodities or contractual services are available only from a single source, in accordance with Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code requirements.
