About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for a Forest Restoration and Habitat Enhancement Program. The purpose of this 5-year contract is to promote forest health and habitat improvements across the state that will benefit wild turkeys and wildlife, and encourage sustainable use of the wild turkey resource. The program will focus on habitat enhancement project identification and administration, land management outreach, education, and technical assistance. The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is identified as the sole source provider, as they are the established private conservation organization for the wild turkey and can provide qualified staff trained in wild turkey biology, forestry practices, and management plan development. FWC, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Florida Forest Service, and NWTF will collaborate on this program.

The total contract value is $115,925 over the 5-year term. NWTF will be responsible for employing a qualified wildlife biologist and providing benefits and travel, while the Florida Forest Service will contribute $115,925 to NWTF. This single source acquisition is justified as NWTF is the only organization that can provide the specialized expertise required to implement this program and achieve the desired outcomes for wild turkey management and habitat enhancement across public lands in Florida.
