About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The department intends to lease 15 FMC-0919-B Mechanical Juice Extractors from John Bean Technologies Corporation (JBT FoodTech) for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. These extractors are required to evaluate the maturity of delivered citrus loads by determining the percent of total soluble solids per pound, as specified in Chapter 20-61.001(2) of the Florida Administrative Code. The department seeks to maintain control over statewide testing procedures to ensure uniformity and consistency in the industry, with the cost of leasing the machines reimbursed by individual processing plants.

JBT FoodTech holds the patent for the FMC-0919-B extractor, and the department has determined there is no equivalent machine available from other sources. The estimated contract amount is $371,415.00. Prospective vendors who believe they can provide these commodities or services are requested to submit relevant information to the department by April 24, 2024. If the department determines the commodities or services are available only from a single source, it will post notice of the intended decision to enter an agreement with the vendor on the Vendor Information Portal.
