About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. The agency is seeking to procure an Illumina MiSeq System, a next-generation benchtop sequencer, to be used for conducting genomic sequencing diagnostics on plant material, particularly for their Accelerated Budwood Initiative program and as a diagnostic tool for their Bureau of Entomology, Nematology and Plant Pathology. The quantity required is 1 unit, and the anticipated contract amount is up to $200,000. The document was posted on 09/27/22, and the last day for receipt of information from prospective vendors is 10/18/22.
The justification for the single source procurement is that Illumina, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of the MiSeq System and has not given permission to any other company to provide this equipment. The approximate contract amount is $108,167.90. The agency has conducted research and determined that there are no alternative equipment that can match the specific capabilities of the Illumina MiSeq System.
