About this file

This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) filed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for the procurement of noble gases from AirGas USA, LLC. The purchase is intended to support three divisions within the department: the Division of Agricultural Environmental Services, the Division of Consumer Services, and the Division of Food Safety. These divisions require various pure, specialty, and industrial gases to conduct laboratory operations including sample preparation, analytical instrument operation, and sample analysis in support of their respective regulatory programs covering fertilizers, feeds, pesticides, weights and measures, food safety, dairy products, and meat and poultry inspection. The commodity is categorized under UNSPSC code 12142000 for noble gases, with a contract term of one year. The notice was posted on June 1, 2026, with a deadline for receipt of information from prospective vendors on June 22, 2026. No formal bidders' conference or site visit is mentioned in the document.

The estimated dollar amount for this single-source acquisition is up to $300,000, with an approximate contract amount of $200,000. The justification for single-source procurement centers on AirGas USA, LLC being the only known source capable of providing the quality, variety, and timely delivery of gases necessary to meet the department's operational needs throughout Florida. The agency emphasizes that AirGas maintains an adequate and consistent supply with responsive support and regional presence critical to operational continuity, and that high-quality specialty gases free of contaminants are mission-critical to the department's regulatory programs and laboratories. Multiple division directors, administrators, and the Purchasing Director II have approved this procurement approach.
