About this file

This public notice document, issued by the Medford School District 549C in Jackson County, Oregon, announces the approval of a sole source procurement agreement with Spitz, Inc. and E&S Planetarium Software Co. The procurement authorizes a direct contract to replace the existing planetarium technology at North Medford High School with a modern digital system. The scope of work includes extraction of the existing planetarium system, installation of Digistar 7 full dome planetarium software with a 5.6 megapixel projector, development of a new control console to integrate the Digistar System with existing planetarium lighting and sound systems, and provision of on-site operator training. The School Board approved this sole source procurement on February 3, 2022. Affected persons have seven days from publication of this notice to file written protests with Jackie Flory at the Medford School District office located at 815 S Oakdale Ave, Medford, OR 97501. This public notice is published at least seven days prior to contract award.

The School Board made written findings that Spitz, Inc. and E&S Planetarium Software Co. are the only vendors identified following a diligent and good faith search that can provide the specified goods and services, and that these goods are available only directly from the vendor. Public Notice

A request for a “sole source procurement” was submitted to and approved by the School Board of Medford School District 549C on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022.

This is a sole source procurement to allow the District to enter into a direct contract with Spitz, Inc. and E&S Planetarium Software Co. to replace the existing technology in the North Medford High School planetarium with a modern, digital system, including the extraction of the existing system, installation of the Digistar 7 full dome planetarium software and 5.6 megapixel projector (“the Digistar System”), development of a new control console to integrate the Digistar System with the existing planetarium’s lighting and sound system, and providing on-site training to operate the Digistar System.

The Medford School District School Board made written findings that Spitz, Inc.

and E&S Planetarium Software Co. is the only vendor that the District has found, following a diligent and good faith search, that provides the types of goods and services described above, that the goods described above are only available directly from that vendor and that the sole source procurement will therefore be unlikely to encourage favoritism in the awarding of public contracts or to substantially diminish competition for public contracts, and would reasonably be expected to result in substantial cost savings to the Medford School District. Any affected person may file a written protest of the approval of this sole source procurement by delivering such protest within seven days of this public notice to:

Jackie Flory, Medford School District, 815 S Oakdale Ave, Medford, OR, 97501, and Attn: Jackie Flory.

This public notice is being published at least seven (7) days prior to the award of a public contract resulting from the approval of this sole source procurement.
