The DNR is requesting proposals for comprehensive design services spanning Phase 200 (Study), Phase 300 (Preliminary Design), Phase 400 (Design Development), and Phase 500 (Final Design/Contract Documents). Two distinct trail areas require improvements: the Kal-Haven Trail from 44th Avenue west to the Blue Star Highway underpass, requiring crushed limestone surface treatment and involving three existing railroad-style bridges; and the Van Buren Trail from Prospect Street to 16th Avenue, also requiring crushed limestone surfacing. Both projects require culvert and bridge inventory analysis and trail stabilization assessment. All design and bid documents must comply with AASHTO and Federal Standards. Proposals are due September 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM, with a mandatory walk-through inspection scheduled for August 26, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Van Buren State Park Headquarters. Questions regarding the RFP must be submitted by August 29, 2019 at noon.
