About this file

This is a project specifications document for a sand trap expansion project at the Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery in Chippewa County, Michigan, issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The project involves expanding an existing sand trap from 8 feet to 20 feet wide to increase sediment storage capacity in Videon's Creek, along with widening the access road to allow for cleanout of the expanded trap.

The scope includes relocating existing sheet piling, excavating the creek bottom for sediment collection, widening the access road through sheet pile wall relocation and construction, clearing trees, relocating a rip-rap drainage ditch, and installing aggregate base with separation fabric. Work within Videon's Creek must be completed between May 10th and June 15th, 2025. The contractor must provide all materials, labor, and equipment, with payment on a lump sum basis. Key requirements include erosion control measures, environmental protection standards, safety protocols including a designated safety officer, and coordination with the Contracting Officer's Representative. The specifications detail technical requirements across multiple divisions including site work, excavation, grading, fill, site clearing, and aggregate base installation.

2. Dispose of excess topsoil as specified for waste material disposal.

3. Stockpile surplus topsoil to allow for respreading deeper topsoil.

3.5 DISPOSAL

A. Disposal: Remove surplus soil material, unsuitable topsoil, obstructions, demolished materials, and waste materials including trash and debris, and legally dispose of them off Government's property.

1. Separate recyclable materials produced during site clearing from other nonrecyclable materials. Store or stockpile without intermixing with other materials and transport them to recycling facilities.

2. Dispose or hazardous and regulated materials in accordance with all local city, county and state laws and regulations.
