PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Prototype Integration Facility (PIF), Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Aviation and Missile Center, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, has a requirement to acquire a master model and manufacture/bonding tool. The tool is to be used for fabrication of the Number One (1) Composite Tunnel Cover for the CH-47F and MH-47G aircraft.

The manufacturing tool will provide an accurately dimensioned and thermally stable platform to manufacture the Tunnel Cover when placed into an autoclave and processed at 350 degrees and 45 psi. The master model is used to manufacture the manufacturing/bonding tool.

Description of Required Supplies/Services:

Description Qty

A Computer Numerical Control (CNC) 15 lb/ft3 density foam master model for a wet layup, LTM prepreg, or resin infused tool surface, with +/- 0.0.20, such that the tool surface may be postcured to 150F on the master model.

Master Model will have a minimum of eight (8) inches edge clearance beyond the part EOP for vacuum bagging the tool and achieving a final tool flange width of five to six (5-6) inches.

Tool surface sealed and finished, and ready to be released and the tool surface laid up.

A completed, resin infused tool, with backup structure, and dimensional inspection report capable of a 350F autoclave cure.

The following will detail the efforts required to take place for this master model and manufacture/bonding tool:

Option 1: A non-finished foam master model.

1. Foam material

2. Engineering design

3. CNC Program

4. CNC

5. QA dimensional inspection

Option 2: Sealed and finished master model (including all efforts in Option 1).

1. Seal and Finish

Option 3: Full mold with back-up structure (including all efforts from Option 1 & 2).

1. Engineering NRE

2. Infuse tool surface

3. Back-up structure

4. Mount and demold

5. Post cure

6. Final QA and inspection
