Lake McDonald Utility Relocation will replace utilities in the GTSR corridor between the Lake McDonald Lodge and Apgar Village within Glacier National Park, Montana. Specifically, this project includes replacing the existing sewer force main, power, and phone in the corridor along Lake McDonald and Going to The Sun Road (GTSR). Additionally, the lift station near the Lake McDonald Lodge is to be replaced and the lift station at the Sprague Creek Campground is to be modified and improved. The project is intended to be constructed from early summer 2022 to late spring 2023. Due to concessionaire agreements and Park visitation, field construction activities requiring full road closure can’t begin until October 1, 2022, but limited full closures with traffic control sheds are allowed at nights from June through September 2022. The completed sewer, power, and phone lines must be operational by early April 2023. As the area is in a high mountain environment, snow plowing will be a required component of the project and the contractor will be responsible for all plowing activities to maintain construction operations.
