Base Item work includes the demolition and removal of the existing timber observation decks and stair structures, including footings, and portion of the aggregate trail; relocation of the existing timber observation structure and outhouse structure; construction of new aggregate trail, new observation decks, spiral staircase, footings and structural elements, new timber shelter and restroom structure, and signs; and other miscellaneous work. Option Item work includes installation of new electronic equipment including audio/visual equipment and solar power equipment, and other miscellaneous work.

Location: The Anan Wildlife Observatory is located 35 air miles SE of Wrangell, Alaska, on the Cleveland Peninsula. Access to Anan Bay is by a 35-minute float plane flight or 90-minute boat ride from Wrangell. The trailhead is located on the shore of Anan Bay, at the mouth of the saltwater lagoon. The half mile trail leads through the rain forest along the edge of the lagoon to Anan Creek, which it follows briefly before reaching the observatory site. The latitude and longitude of the observatory site are approximately 56.179032° N, -131.883935° W.

Anticipated period of performance: Due to the high volume of permitted visitors to the site, on-site work is restricted to the period of 09/15/2020 through 11/30/2021, excluding the high visitor use period from 07/01/2021 through 08/30/2021.
