About this file
This is a Pre-Bid Request for Information (RFI) response document for Project 573-22-103, Renovate Interventional Radiology Suites at Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. A bidder raised critical concerns regarding the scope of work on the first floor, which is directly above the Sterile Processing service in the basement level. The bidder noted that the basement areas and affected ceiling spaces were not included in the initial site visit and lack documented plans for required plumbing and electrical improvements. The bidder emphasized the necessity of understanding construction complexities in a sterile environment for accurate cost and schedule estimation.
In response, the Government announced a mandatory second site visit scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026, at 7:00 AM at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, with participants meeting in front of the Engineering Office (Basement-Building 1). The site visit will provide access to all areas below the intervention radiology suites work area. Additionally, the Government extended the proposal submission deadline to April 3, 2026, and established an RFI response deadline of March 12, 2026. This amendment applies to the Bid-Build construction services solicitation managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 8.

| 1 | After extensive review of the plans, it appears the area of work on the first floor is directly above the Sterile Processing service located on the basement level. This area was not visited or mentioned during the site visit and no plans are provided defining the scope of work required to install the necessary plumbing and electrical improvements above the ceilings to support the new IR procedure rooms. In order to effectively plan and develop pricing for the Renovate Radiology Suites project, it is imperative that all bidders have a clear understanding of the complexities of performing the necessary construction activities in a sterile environment. |
We respectfully request that a 2nd site visit be conducted to provide access to all areas below the area of work for the IR suites.
We also request that reflected ceiling plans of the affected spaces be provided along with identification of all facility operational constraints that must be considered.
We believe it is in the best interest of the government to seriously consider a 2nd site visit on this project since these areas in question were not visited in the initial site visit and will have a direct impact on the project’s cost and scheduling. We believe it is in the Government's best interest to have the prospective contractor's here for the additional site visit. Participants are to meet at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL 32608 in front of the Engineering Office (Basement-Building 1) at 7:00 am on Friday March 06, 2026.
