About this file

This document is a Sole Source (Including Brand Name) Justification form for a U.S. Air Force procurement at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. The acquisition involves purchasing 5 AN/PRC-167 Radio Systems and associated ancillary equipment, including antennas, software options, battery packs, chargers, and communication kits. The total equipment list comprises 46 individual items, with a focus on tactical communication equipment compatible with existing base radio infrastructure.

The procurement is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures using DAFFARS 5313.501 authority, with the 18th Contracting Squadron as the contracting activity. Market research identified at least 3 potential vendors capable of supplying the requirement. The justification highlights the need for radio equipment that can seamlessly integrate with existing USAF radio systems, with future considerations for adopting new tactical air-to-ground radio products if they become available.
