EXHIBIT A: SYSTEM PARTS LIST
HySecurity Slide Gate
The annual preventive maintenance service must include, but is not limited to, the following items:
No. Part to be checked /
Maintenance items
Related activities
1. General Maintenance Instructions
The Recommended Maintenance for the Sliding Gate is intended to keep all gate operations in a completely functional mode. The maintenance consists of visual inspection of the gate for alignment, fastener tightness and damage, periodic lubrication of moving parts, and maintenance of the operator.
During maintenance, the power should be shut off to the operator and the gate should be braced to prevent movement unless gate is being cycled to test controls.
2. Fasteners All Fasteners on the Sliding Gate and Structure should be checked for tightness and coating wear per the Maintenance Schedule. If there are signs of coating wear, the fastener should be replaced immediately.
3. HySecurity Operator Maintenance
The HySecurity Slide Driver Operator is to be maintained in accordance with instructions contained in the HySecurity Maintenance Manual. The Drive Rail should be checked for alignment with the operator and any binding should be corrected immediately.
4. Mechanical Maintenance Schedule regular maintenance and look for the following:
• Verify drive belt has proper tension. Check for drive belt wear. Fraying edges or missing teeth indicate that drive belt needs to be replaced.
• Check for signs of rust. If any areas of rust are found, reduce spread of corrosion by treating areas with a rust inhibitor.
• Check motor. DC motors contain carbon brushes which wear over time and must be replaced. Failure to replace brushes will result in DC motor damage. Brushes should be inspected every year in high usage applications or every 100,000 cycles and replaced as needed.
• Replace worn-out batteries.
5. Drive Rail Verify that the drive rail does not move more than 1-inch up and down or ¼-inch side-to-side throughout the entire horizontal travel of the gate. Re-alignment is simple if the rail is mounted with U bolts. Adjusting the rail for side-to-side movements requires inserting shims between the rail and the gate where necessary. To adjust side-to-side movements, loosen the U bolts and add or remove shim stock. To adjust up or down, loosen the U bolts and simply tap the rail with a hammer until the correct height is reached.
If using XtremeDrive wheels, the height of the drive rail needs to be set between 9¾ to 10 inches (24 to 25 cm) from base of SlideDriver chassis if using XtremeDrive™ wheels.
6 Sliding Gate Moving Parts Maintenance
The Sliding Gate has relatively few moving parts. The V-Groove Wheels should be greased per the Maintenance Schedule through the grease zerk on each wheel. The Bottom Beam of the Sliding Gate has holes on the secure side of the gate that align with holes in the Trolley assembly to allow for greasing of the wheels without removal from the gate. The wheels of the gate are aligned so that the grease zerks are on the secure side of the gate.
The Trolley Assembly moves on bushings that should be checked for wear and be greased according to the Maintenance Schedule. There may be a washer between the bushings and the spacer plates on the inner wall of the Bottom Beam to prevent excess side to side movement of the Trolley Assembly.
The Wheel Axle and Trolley Axle should be checked for deformation that would inhibit normal operation.
If the Axles, Bearings, Trolley Assemblies, or V-Groove Wheels need replaced, remove the Roller Bracket Plates from the top of the Superstructure, disengage the HySecurity Operator wheels, and jack the gate up to allow removal. The Side Bumpers will prevent gate from falling down, but the gate should be braced to prevent any movement of the gate during repair. The Gate should not need jacked up by more than a few inches.
The Gate should be manually moved to check alignment of the gate and the surrounding structure is correct. After manually checked, the Operator should be turned on and the gate should be cycled to ensure that the alignment is correct when operated. Gate should be cycled in all modes from all control panels.
7. Gate Structure Maintenance Guide Rollers on Super Structure should be checked for proper alignment with the Top Beam of the Gate and for binding. If there is binding, the Guide Roller should be detached from the Guide Roller Spacer and the internals greased. If binding still occurs, the Guide Roller should be replaced.
UHMW Bumper and Guide Plates should be checked for wear. If there are deep grooves in the UHMW or the Gate is scrapping on the fasteners, the UHMW should be replaced to prevent damage to the Gate. If the UHMW is allowed to wear down to the point that there is metal on metal contact, there will be damage to the gate finish including the galvanized finish.
Gate Bumpers should be checked to ensure that the Gate has a soft landing on each end of its movement cycle. Check and replace the bumper if the gate is no longer contacting the bumper and is hitting the fasteners holding on the bumper.
8 Hydraulic System Maintenance
Fluid Level: Under normal conditions, hydraulic systems do not consume fluid. Check the system thoroughly for leaks, before adding any fluid. If fluid needs to be added:
1. Remove the metal plug from the tank.
2. Use HySecurity Uniflow hydraulic fluid; part number MX000970.
Gallon sold by our distributors.
3. Fill to within ½ inch of the plug level, and then replace plug.
Look for leaks: Occasionally there may be slight seeping at the fittings after some usage. Tightening of the fittings usually corrects the problem.
If leaking persists, replace “O” rings, fittings or hoses, if required. No further leaks should occur.
To Change Fluid: Unlike a gas engine, the fluid inside a hydraulic system does not foul, so fluid changes do not need to occur often. HySecurity recommends draining the reservoir and replacing the fluid at five-year intervals. Fluid breakdown caused by heat is the main concern. If the unit is subjected to high use, or you are using the HySecurity biodegradable fluid option (especially in a warm climate), change the fluid more frequently.
To change the hydraulic fluid,
1. Remove the reservoir from the pump pack.
2. Completely empty it.
3. Wipe the reservoir clean and clean the debris screen.
4. Re-assemble the pump unit and refill it with new Uniflow hydraulic fluid.
5. To avoid overfilling, slowly pour the fluid through the filler port near the reservoir’s top until the fluid is within one inch of the port’s opening.
6. Replace the plug and wipe up any spilled fluid. Spilled fluid dries to a sticky and messy consistency
9 Brake Valve Adjustments Proper adjustment of the brake valves is important for smooth operation of the gate. The position and placement of the limit ramps on the drive rail plays an important part on how the brake valves work.
Adjustment of the brake valves, one for each direction of travel, will determine how quickly the gate actually stops. If adjustment is needed, loosen the 9/16-inch lock nut on the top of the brake valve and make ¼-inch incremental turns on the adjustment stem with a hex key. Test cycle the gate after each incremental turn. Note that the adjustment screw varies depending on model type.
10 Pressure Relief Valve Adjustments
The Pressure Relief Valve governs the maximum system hydraulic pressure. It is located on the backside of the pump. The pressure relief valve is factory set and may need to be adjusted depending on the gate weight. Refer to the yellow tag wire tied to the unit and follow the instructions.
11 Open Valve The open valve is solenoid operated and, when energized, directs the hydraulic flow to open the gate. No adjustment of this valve is possible or necessary. The black solenoid coil mounts on its valve stem.
12. Control System Maintenance Before servicing, turn off all power switches. The systems that control the movement of the Gate should be checked to ensure proper operation in all modes. The safety features should be checked to ensure they function and do not cause faulty operation. Blow the dust out of the electric panel with compressed air.
13 Clock Battery Replacement A lithium coin battery supports the clock, so the date and time is retained even when the main power is turned off. Replace the battery about every five years (or as needed) with a DL 2025, DL 2032, or CR 2025, or CR 2032 battery.
14. Cleaning the Gate System The Sliding Gate and Structure are to be cleaned per the Maintenance Schedule. The Sliding Gate and Structure should be cleaned with a mild general purpose non-abrasive cleaner using fresh clean water. Wash using a clean soft cloth or sponge. Rinse well with clean water.
DO NOT USE the following: Abrasive cleaners, Ammonia, Caustic or Alkaline cleaners, Organic Solvents, Paint or Lacquer Thinner, Gasoline or Diesel Fuel, Petroleum Spirits, or Salt Water.
After cleaning the Sliding Gate and Structure, the finish should be inspected for any damage to the coating.
15 UPS Check for maximum battery life according to manual. Check if UPS meets minimum operation requirements.
16 Inspection report signed off Is the inspection report signed of by end user who is allowed to sign of on the work? With legible full name and signature.

• Damage to Galvanized Coating to be repaired per ASTM A780 as soon as possible.
• Damage to Finished Coating to be repaired with Ross provided paint or per Ross’s instructions. Note this is for the Wash Primer only. Finished paint is done on site by others.
• Remain clear of Sliding Gate during operation. There are many pinch points between the gate and the surrounding structures that could cause injury.
• Only Ross provided or approved Spare Parts may be used with Sliding Gates.
Special Notes:
1. Your gate and gate hardware will require more maintenance than your HySecurity operator. A damaged gate or worn hardware may cause slow or erratic operation and will result in excess drive wheel wear. Lubricate gate hardware more frequently and check for smooth operation by opening the toggle clamping mechanism and then pushing the gate manually. One person should easily be able to push all but the largest of gates. Damaged or warped gate panels should be straightened or replaced.
2. Normally, drive wheel life is many years. They are designed to avoid slipping on the rail. Drive wheel life may be greatly shortened by any of these faults: clamping spring not adjusted correctly, operator or drive rail misaligned in relation to gate panel, badly warped gate panel, extremely stiff gate hardware, and/or loose wheel mounting bolts (tighten to 25 ft. lb).
3. Verify that the red clamping spring is compressed tightly so that drive wheels apply a strong grip on drive rail.
The red spring should be compressed to 2-inches in height. See Drive Wheel Spring Tension (Adjustment of Manual Release) on page 125.
4. The limit switch and deceleration switch rollers should ride ¼ to ½-inch below the drive rail, near the center of the channel. Maladjustment may result in false or early tripping or no limit function at the end of travel. Verify that the slow down limit ramps are tightly bolted to the drive rail.
5. The fluid level should remain no less than one inch below the filler hole. Refer to maintenance instructions for fluid filling. Loss of fluid is not normal and indicates a leak that must be located and repaired. Use Uniflow fluid, part MX000970, if additional fluid is required.
6. Replace the Smart Touch Controller coin battery with DL 2025 / DL 2032 or CR 2025 / CR 2032.
7. DC Operators use DC motors with 4 carbon brushes which are worn in normal operation. Worn brushes can damage the DC motor. Under severe conditions HySecurity recommends that brushes be checked after 2 years or 250,000 cycles and the replacement interval be adjusted as necessary.
