OVERHAUL DESCRIPTION

FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY

ITEM NAME PUMP UNIT,CENTRIFUGAL

USED ON 175 WLM

Items as received by the contractor must be complete and of the proper cited part number. Discrepancies shall be reported to the Coast Guard Contracting Officer.

OVERHAUL REQUIREMENTS:

PRELIMINARY INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS:

Each pump shall be inspected in order to determine the extent of required repairs. A Condition Report and Cost Proposal shall be provided to the Coast Guard Contracting Officer, which shall include: the required repairs needed for each pump, new replacement parts required with prices, labor rate, labor hours required, and a total estimate for all required services which shall also include any charges for labor in the repair or building of a new shipping container. The serial number for the pump shall be documented on the Condition Report. If not assigned, the Contractor shall assign a serial number. The serial number shall be stamped onto each pump.

MATERIAL CERTIFICATIONS:

Material certifications shall be submitted for any components designed to be exposed to corrosive fluids.

OVERHAUL REQUIREMENTS:

Each pump shall be overhauled at an authorized R.S. Corcoran service facility. Each pump shall be overhauled to a condition which shall restore the operating and performance characteristics to the "ORIGINAL" design and technical specifications. Overhaul shall be performed in accordance with original equipment manufacturers specifications and standards. After completion of all repairs, a final inspection / assembly report shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer for approval prior to any scheduled QA inspections. This report shall have all OEM minimum and maximum design dimensions and clearances of all attributes along with the actual dimensions documented. All out of tolerance dimensions shall be circled or highlighted.

A waiver request shall be submitted with all out of tolerance conditions stating why the out of tolerance condition is acceptable along with a statement that the function and performance of the pump will not be diminished or compromised prior to any QA inspections. The Contractor shall provide the Coast Guard's contracting officer 7 days notification prior to performing any standard production tests and inspections to assure maximum design performance.

Motor shall be overhauled and tested in accordance with SFLC Standard Specification 3020, Overhaul of AC Motors.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

The inspections and tests required herein are the minimum necessary and are not intended to replace any controls, examinations or tests normally employed by the contractor to assure the quality of the product. The following are required and will be monitored by a Government Quality Assurance Representative.

a. Witness all standard production testing.

b. Witness preservation, packaging, packing, and marking.

Preservation:

Each PUMP shall be painted and preserved in accordance with OEM specifications.

Each PUMP shall be individually preserved and wrapped for protection against deterioration for a period of two (2) years minimum.

Paint:

The surfaces shall be cleaned and prepared to promote paint adherence in accordance with the paint manufacture recommendations. Upon completion of all tests, a primer and finish coat of paint shall be applied to all surfaces with exception of the flange faces. The primer coat used shall be a high build epoxy to MIL-PRF-23236 or MIL-PRF-24647. The primer coat shall be 5-6 Mils dry film thickness (DFT). The finish coat shall be Silicone Alkyd Enamel Type III Class 1. Color shall be OEM color. The finish coat shall be 3-4 mils DFT for a total paint thickness of primer and top coat to a minimum of 5-7 mils DFT.

Packaging::

Each overhauled pump shall be packaged in a moisture resistant protective envelope. All open ports shall be sealed using waterproof caps or covers to prevent the intrusion of moisture and other contaminants.

A copy of the material certifications shall be packaged inside a protective envelope.

Packing:

Individually packaged in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1 E Method 10, cushioned, as needed, wrapped in foil wrap type MIL-STD-131 and packed in an appropriately sized ASTM-D6251 Type III, Class 1 Wood-Cleated Panelboard Shipping Box or ASTM-D6880 Class 2 Heavy Duty screwed Wooden Box with internal or external bracing with a skid mounted base to facilitate handling by a fork lift. Each Pump Assembly shall be through bolted to the base of the shipping container using the base mount plate of the pump or wooden blocking shall be incorporated to prevent the pump from movement during multiple shipments.

Marking:

Marking in accordance with MIL-STD-129R.

Each pump shall have a name plate attached to the housing displaying the vendors name, serial number, model number/part number, CG Contract number, and Delivery Order number stamped on the name plate. All previous markings shall be completely removed from the reusable shipping container prior to the application of any new markings. If the reusable shipping container is inadequate for reshipment the newly constructed shipping container shall be constructed of wood. Each PUMP shall be packed individually in its own wooden container which shall be capable of providing adequate protection to the PUMP during multiple shipments. Mark each container using 3/4" stencils. Prior to stenciling, the container shall have painted contrasting backgrounds using white paint for the background and black paint for the lettering.

WARRANTY:

B. Item being repaired as an "onboard repair" or a "system stock" item and will be put into inventory. NOT FOR IMMEDIATE INSTALLATION.

Contractor must guarantee item against defects that lead to failure for

90 days after installation for a period of up to two (2) years after delivery to Coast Guard.

GOVERNMENT ACCEPTANCE:

Acceptance will be made at destination by a Government representative.

Acceptance will be contingent upon the representative's verification of no damage in transit, correctness and completeness of order and contractor's conformance to preservation/packaging, packing and marking requirements.

PACKAGING AND MARKING FOR SHIPMENT:
