Statement of Work -Attachment #1 Editing USDA Forest Service Science Publications
1.0 Scope of Work
The Northern Research Station (NRS) Production Servies Group requests senior editing and proofreading support services for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service Research and Development publications. Projects include an assortment of General Technical Reports, Research Bulletins, Research Notes, and other research publications from the Northern Research Station, Forest Products Laboratory, and Northern Forests Climate Hub. Scientific publications cover a range of topics including critical research reports on active forest management and prescribed fire, Forest Inventory & Analysis reports mandated through the USDA Farm Bill, forest products innovations, and a decadal update to the forest vulnerability assessment of the Eastern United States. All editing must follow USDA publication standards and guidelines.
2.0 Background
The Research and Development arm of the Forest Service, a component of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, works at the forefront of science to improve the health and use of our Nation's forests and grasslands. Research has been part of the Forest Service mission since the agency's inception in 1905. Each year, Forest Service scientists write and publish thousands of peer reviewed publications. Research Stations also produce a variety of science syntheses. These publications are available for free in the Treesearch (https://research.fs.usda.gov/treesearch) collection.
