FRB DAVIT HYDRAULIC CYLINDER REPAIRS
1. Scope:
1.1. Repair the leaking spring loaded hydraulic cylinder on NOAA Ship PISCES.

4. Requirements
4.1. Work with COR and Ship’s Force to remove the Fast Rescue Boat from the davit cradle.
Lock-out/Tag-out the Fast Rescue Boat Davit System.
4.2. Using the GFM furnished material, replace the failed hydraulic cylinder on the Fast Rescue
Boat Davit. Note that the hydraulic cylinders are spring loaded and extreme care must be utilized in installing/removing these cylinders. Ensure the spring tension is released prior to removing cylinder pins.
4.3. The ship’s cranes may be used to accomplish work. Crane lifts shall be scheduled with COR and Ship’s Force a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
4.4. Contactor shall fill the hydraulic cylinder with new Hydraulic 32 / Tellus 32 hydraulic oil
(or equal) in accordance with OEM recommendations (approximately 1 liter).
4.5. Procure the services of a local OEM representative (Palfinger Marine) to complete operation and weight testing to certify the FRB Davit is safe for use with the new cylinders. Weight test the davit to 7,700 lbs (110% of the safe working load). An OEM representative may be made by contacting the local OEM distributor or contact information provided below:

4.6. OEM inspection/certification shall include inspecting/testing/repairing the lowering speeds to verify safe operation.
4.7. Contractor shall overhaul the removed leaking cylinder in accordance with OEM recommendations and Reference 2.3 using GFM and other contractor furnished materials as needed. Replace all seals, O-rings, breathing plug, plugs, and bushings. Inspect the hydraulic cylinder, piston, rod, springs, seals, and eyes, and flanges and submit a CFR with any additional required repairs.
4.8. Fill the overhauled hydraulic cylinder with hydraulic oil in accordance with OEM recommendations. Test the hydraulic cylinder in accordance with Reference 2.3.
4.9. Pack and seal the refurbished hydraulic cylinder for long term storage and deliver to the
PISCES Pascagoula Port Office, address provided below:
