4.1.10. After impact, system shall be fully deactivated in no more than two seconds.
4.1.11. Activation button shall be installed in a booth adjacent to the location of the device and shall be placed in readily accessible positions that do not interfere with normal operations.
4.1.12. Warnings for both the traveling public and officers shall be incorporated. This includes:
4.1.12.1. 2 traffic signals placed on each side of the device that activate red lights when system is active
4.1.12.2. 2 traffic signs - 1 for each lane approaching the system that warn drivers of device presence.
4.1.12.3. 2 speed limit signs – 1 for each lane approaching the system
4.1.13. Shall not incorporate one-time use parts or components under normal deployment conditions.
4.1.14. Exterior components constructed of, and finished, using corrosion-resistant, ruggedized materials.
4.1.15. Weather sensitive components shall be properly protected in weatherproof enclosures.
4.1.16. In-ground components shall incorporate drainage sufficient to channel water away from all parts of the system.
4.1.17. Heat trace shall be integrated with the operational
components to prevent freezing and ice build-up.
4.1.18. The motor that activates the blades shall be rated for no less than 75,000 cycles.
