About this file

This document is a Performance Specification for an Automated Shot Counter system to be used with various military weapons. The system consists of a rounds counter device mounted on the weapon and a handheld external reader. Key requirements include:

The rounds counter shall be able to measure rounds fired at rates up to 7,000 rounds per minute, maintain memory of 3,000,000 rounds, have an accuracy rate of 99.5% or greater, and be battery-operated with a minimum 10-year battery life. The reader shall be able to interact with at least 500 rounds counters simultaneously and receive data from up to 3 feet away. Both the rounds counter and reader must meet stringent environmental and cybersecurity requirements.

The related federal contract opportunity is a draft solicitation seeking industry feedback on the Automated Shot Counter requirements prior to posting a full solicitation. The government is interested in commercially available solutions meeting the defined specifications and is requesting information on potential providers, product capabilities, and any concerns with the requirements.
