About this file
This document is a Purchase Description for a Ferrogram Maker, a specialized analytical device used in wear particle analysis for weapon system components. The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation by Army Contracting Command - Redstone Arsenal (ACC-RSA) seeking potential vendors to supply three (3) EA FM-6 Ferrogram Makers.
The market research aims to identify potential sources, with a focus on small businesses. The procurement details include a NAICS Code of 334516 (with flexibility for alternative codes), a small business size standard of 1,000 employees, and a PSC code of 3590. Interested vendors must submit a statement of interest via email to Skylar Summers by August 19, 2025. The ferrogram maker is used to separate and deposit wear particles from lubricating oil or grease onto a glass slide, enabling microscopic analysis of machinery component wear conditions through a non-destructive optical technique.

Text version
Purchase Description – Ferrogram Maker Analytical Ferrography, also known as wear particle analysis, is a non-destructive, optical technique used to evaluate the size, shape, composition, and concentration of wear particles in oil or grease to determine a weapon system component’s (engine, transmission, gearbox, etc.) wear condition. This technology is one of the more sensitive, non-intrusive methods used to determine a weapon system component’s health. The ferrogram maker, also called an analytical ferrograph, is a device used in analytical Ferrography to separate wear particles from a lubricating oil or grease sample and deposit them on a glass slide called a ferrogram. This process allows for microscopic analysis of the wear particles to determine the type and severity of wear in machinery.
