About this file
This document outlines the salient characteristics for Athletic Artificial Turf (AFT) lanes required for military physical fitness testing. The artificial turf lanes must meet specific dimensional and functional requirements, including a minimum usable surface of 29 meters long by 2.6 meters wide, with the capability to expand and interconnect using Velcro or similar securing material to create a 16-lane field measuring 30 meters by 50 meters. Each lane must include incremental meter markings for distance measurement and weigh no more than 275 pounds to allow easy deployment by 2-4 personnel without mechanical equipment assistance.
The turf must comply with ATP 7-22.01, C1 standards regarding uniform surface consistency and continuous drag resistance for all participants. Additional requirements include construction from USA-made materials with antimicrobial properties resistant to mold, mildew, and bacteria; use of nontoxic chemicals; operational temperature rating up to 460 degrees Fahrenheit; and no requirement for adhesives during installation. Setup requirements specify that two personnel should assemble two pieces in under 10 minutes, while four personnel should construct a complete 16-lane field in less than 60 minutes. The surface must accommodate Preparation Drills and provide uniform platform space for conducting the 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Hand Release Push-up, and Plank events.

AFT Athletic Artificial Turf Salient Characteristics:
1. The provided athletic artificial turf lane usable surface must be a minimum of 29 meters long and 2.6 meters wide.
2. The provided athletic artificial turf lane must be easily expandable and capable of adjoining to other similar lanes using Velcro or other type of securing material. In meeting the requirements of ATP 7-22.01, C1, page 2-4, Paragraph 2-21, when expanded and joined the artificial lanes must be capable of creating 16 lanes with the dimensions of 30 meters by 50 meters.
3. The provided athletic artificial turf lane must have incremental markings every meter for measuring distance.
4. The provided athletic artificial turf lane must not weigh more than 275 pounds each and be easily moved by a team of 2-4 personnel and not require additional mechanical equipment in deploying.
5. The provided athletic artificial turf lane should be constructed of materials made in the USA.
6. The provided athletic artificial turf lane must meet ATP 7-22.01, C1, page 2-4, Paragraph 2-22 and 2-23 requirements in providing a uniform surface consistency which provides a continuous drag resistance for all AFT participants.
7. The provided athletic artificial turf lane should be rated for operational temperatures of up to 460 degrees Fahrenheit.
8. The provided athletic artificial turf lane should be made from material which has anti-microbial characteristics and proven to resist mold, mildew, and bacteria growth.
9. The provided athletic artificial turf lane should be constructed using nontoxic chemicals.
10. The provided athletic artificial turf lane should not require adhesives to adhere the turf to the surface that it is being used on.
11. The provided athletic artificial turf lane (2 pieces) should be able to be set up with a team of two (2) personnel in less than 10 minutes and ready to conduct the AFT. A crew of four (4) personnel should be able to construct a 16 lane AFT field using the provided athletic artificial turf in less than 60 minutes.
12. The provided athletic artificial turf lane must provide adequate surface space to conduct Preparation Drills and a uniform platform area for conducting, the 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift, the Hand Release Push-up (HRP) and the Plank event.
