About this file

This is an AFMC Form 158 Packaging Requirements document for Purchase Instrument Number FD20202600499-00. The document establishes mandatory packaging and marking standards for Item 1630016540282, requiring compliance with MIL-STD-2073-1 (Standard Practice for Military Packaging) Revision E and MIL-STD-129 (Standard Practice for Military Marking) Revision R.

The document mandates that all wood packaging material (WPM)—including wooden pallets, skids, crates, boxes, dunnage, and frames—must be constructed from debarked wood and heat-treated to 56 degrees Centigrade (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for a minimum of 30 minutes. Certification and marking are required by an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC), with reference to International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15) for regulation of wood packaging material in international trade. This requirement addresses invasive species concerns, particularly the pinewood nematode, and applies to shipments worldwide, whether direct or through air logistics centers, container consolidation points, or other bases. Shipping containers must be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129 and may require additional marking, bar coding, unit serial numbers, original equipment manufacturer names, and OEM model numbers as specified on the AFMC Form 158. The packaging requirement is designated as Preservation Level MIL, Packaging Level B, with SPI F016540282 dated 15 May 2025. The document was generated on 02 March 2026 by the 406 SCMS/GULAA office.
