About this file
This is a Packaging Requirements document (AFMC Form 158) for purchase instrument FD20202600353-00, Version 1, establishing packaging and marking standards for military shipments.
The document mandates compliance with MIL-STD-2073-1 (Revision E) for military packaging and MIL-STD-129 (Revision R) for military marking. A critical requirement addresses United Nations-implemented restrictions on wood packaging material (WPM), including wood pallets, skids, load boards, pallet collars, wooden boxes, reels, dunnage, crates, frames, and cleats. All wooden lumber and containers must be constructed from debarked wood and heat-treated to 56 degrees Centigrade (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes minimum, with certification and marking required by an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC). Vendors must reference the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15) for regulatory compliance. Shipping containers require marking per MIL-STD-129, with additional requirements for unit serial numbers, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) names, and OEM model numbers as specified on the AFMC Form 158. The packaging requirement is classified as Preservation Level MIL, Packaging Level B, with item 1680ND101447GXM subject to these specifications. The packaging specialist is David B. Gibson (406 SCMS/GULAA, 801-777-0987), with the document signed on 21 January 2026.
