About this file
This document contains a brand name justification for a simplified acquisition under Federal Acquisition Regulation 13.5 for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The agency requires a weight-based inventory management system from Par Excellence to be installed in 13 leased buildings at its Salt Lake City, Utah medical center. The proprietary system utilizes calibrated bins and scales to automatically track medical supply usage and replenishment needs through integration with the VISTA and GIP IT systems already in use. The justification cites Par Excellence as the only responsible source due to its unique product capabilities. Market research found no other offers that could satisfy the requirement for full system integration. The incumbent contractor SDV Office Systems was awarded a follow-on contract for $507,850.21 to provide the Par Excellence equipment and related installation services on May 10, 2023 under order number 36C25923P0771.
