About this file
This document contains a justification and approval for other than full and open competition for a federal contract award. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 awarded a sole source contract to Steris Corporation for medical equipment service and maintenance. The total estimated value of the two year contract is $415,063.58, with an period of performance from April 1, 2023 through March 31, 2025. Steris Corporation is considered the only responsible source because they are the original equipment manufacturer and sole provider of proprietary medical parts and services for the equipment. The previous contract term was from October 3, 2019 to October 2, 2022 with a cost of $444,737.93, and the new contract prices represent an estimated annual increase of approximately 40% due to inflation. The justification cites Steris Corporation's specialized training and factory authorization to ensure the Steris equipment continues to operate according to original specifications as reasons this requirement can only be fulfilled by the incumbent.
