About this file

This sole source justification document outlines the need for service and maintenance on a Somatom go. OpenPro RO (Athlon) CT simulator medical imaging system owned by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The incumbent contractor, Siemens Medical Solutions USA, will provide remote service, updates, parts delivery, training, technical support, and service access keys over a four year period from January 2024 through November 2027. Pricing of $253,905.40 was determined fair and reasonable as it represents a 29% discount from commercial rates. As the equipment is highly technical and proprietary to Siemens, no other vendors can adequately service it without risk of damage. A notice of intent to sole source received no interested responses. The justification and approval were certified by the biomedical engineer, contracting officer, and branch chief.
