About this file

This is a Request for Limited Sources Justification document for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically for the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta, VA. The VA is seeking to purchase two STERIS AMSCO Evolution Electric Steam Sterilizers with specific accessories, including built-in electric steam generators, transfer carriages, and a dock. The total procurement will involve removal of current sterilizers, disposal, and installation of new equipment for the Sterile Processing Services (SPS) department.

The justification is based on FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(B), arguing that STERIS is the only source capable of providing the required equipment at the needed quality level. Key rationales include equipment standardization, existing facility infrastructure, STERIS being the current manufacturer, and the unique features of their sterilization equipment. The VA will utilize GSA Contract V797D-60613 for this procurement, with market research confirming STERIS as the primary authorized distributor. The recommended procurement is a sole-source award directly to STERIS Corporation, with the estimated value of the action redacted in the document.
