About this file
This document is a Justification for Single Source Award under FAR Part 13.106-1 for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Lebanon Medical Center. The VA is seeking to procure two Olympus ESG-410 Electrosurgical Generators, with a trade-in for credit, with an estimated value exceeding the micro-purchase threshold but not the Simplified Acquisition Threshold of $250,000.
The Olympus ESG-410 generators are required due to their unique compatibility with the Lebanon VAMC's existing Olympus surgical system and equipment. The Lebanon VAMC currently utilizes the Olympus system and the ESG-410 generators are needed to power electrosurgical cutting loops used in urology procedures. The VA conducted market research but found no other suitable alternatives that would integrate with their existing Olympus infrastructure. A Sources Sought notice was posted but no acceptable alternatives were identified. Therefore, the VA has determined a sole source award to Olympus is justified.
