DESCRIPTION
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION
ANNOUNCEMENT.
This Sources Sought Notice is intended for information and planning purposes only at this time and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Because this is a Sources Sought announcement, no evaluation letters and/or results will be issued to the respondents. No solicitation exists.
Therefore, do not request a copy of a solicitation.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 4, Network Contracting Office 4 (NCO 4), Commodities 1, is seeking information and potential qualified sources capable of providing the equipment and installation listed below.
Delivery Location
These items will be delivered to the VAPHS Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL) at 6425 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA. 15206.
General Requirement
HERL is seeking a multi-station automatic finishing machine for final finishes for laser cut and other primary process parts out of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. Given HERL’s research mission and the wide range of products that they develop, maximum flexibility is needed to finish parts for various materials, sizes, shapes, thickness, and finish parameters. Ability to rapidly and safely change abrasives and cut parameters is key to maintaining an efficient workflow as HERL will reset the machine daily for the current job. Safety is a significant concern with a mixed metal process and many of the features below are aimed at mitigating safety risk of fire and operator error. Additionally, HERL’s current space is limited, and the machine must work with existing infrastructure.
