DUAL CHAMBER SPACE SAVER FURNACE
CHAMBER: 12" H x 12" W x 36" L (Both Chambers)
VOLTAGE: 230 or 460/3/60
POWER: 26 KW
TEMP: 2300 F (Upper Chamber) and 1200 F (Lower Chamber)
HEARTH LEVEL ABOVE FLOOR: 47" H (Upper Chamber) and 26" H (Lower Chamber)
Temperature Uniformity: AMS2750 E specifications with the Upper Chamber designed for a Class 5 chamber of +/ 25 F (50 F variance) in a work area 10" H x 10" W x 30" L between 1400 F and 2000 F. The Lower Chamber is designed for a Class 2 chamber of +/ 10 F (20 F variance) in a work area 10" H x 10" W x 30" L between 200 F and 1100 F.
SHELL – Fabricated with 12 gauge sheet steel reinforced with structural steel members welded to form a solid framework. The front of the furnace is designed to support the door assembly and withstand distortion from the chamber heat. The roof and rear covers are bolted and removable for service access. The furnace is finished in machine gray enamel paint. A rollaway quench tank (optional) can be stored under the lower chamber.
UPPER CHAMBER
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE 2300 F.
POWER RATING Chamber rating is 15 KW.
HEATING ELEMENTS – The furnace is fired by heavy gauge coiled Kanthal Fe, Cr, Al wire fully supported in high temperature cast monolithic holders. The holders are formed with horizontal slots exposing maximum radiation from the coil into the chamber for faster heating. The heating element wires are designed with a low watt loading which lowers the rate of alloy deterioration and extends the wire life. The wires are coiled to an OD and spaced per gauge for self support at high temperature. Ceramic tubes support the lead wires through the insulation and are connected to terminal bolts in the rear of the furnace. The wires and holders are replaced as one complete heating element assembly without removing, touching or degrading the insulation. The heating elements are located on the side walls to provide uniform heat distribution throughout the chamber.
INSULATION – The chamber is lined with a minimum of 6.5" of insulation consisting of a 4.5" hot face layer of 2300 F insulating firebrick (IFB) and 2” cold face layer of 1900 F mineral wool. The chamber roof hot face is lightweight ceramic fiber board for spanning wider areas. The IFB is a lightweight porous composition made from low iron, alumina and silica materials providing excellent insulating ability.
HEARTH PLATE A 1" thick cast hearth plate supports the heating element holders, protects the floor insulation and provides a flat working surface. The hearth plate is removable.
DOOR A manual counterweighted vertical lift door is operated by a hand crank and keeps the hot face surface away from the operator. The door is constructed of heavy gauge sheet metal and continuously welded and structurally reinforced and lined with a combination of firebrick, mineral wool and castable to provide a low outside shell temperature. The door assembly is comprised of a set of angle iron uprights attached to the front of the furnace, sprockets on top of the uprights, counterweight and chain. The chain is connected to the door and rides over the sprockets to the counterweight. The hand crank is connected to an outer sprocket on top of the uprights which drives the entire assembly. Pins extending from both sides of the door ride in tapered guides which force the door against the vestibule brick to provide a tight seal. In open position the operator inserts a locking pin to hold door open.
DOOR SWITCH A microswitch automatically shuts off power to the heating elements when the door is opened eliminating a potential shock hazard. The heating elements are re energized when door closes.
THERMOCOUPLE Two 8 gauge Type (K) thermocouple assemblies (one for control and one for high limit controller) are located in the chamber near the heating elements in each zone for rapid sensing of the chamber heat.
TUS PORT A manually removable insulated plug is located through the roof of the oven to provide access for temperature uniformity survey (TUS) thermocouples.
SAT PORT A thermocouple port is located through the rear wall of the chamber within 3" of the primary thermocouple, for customer provided thermocouple, for system accuracy tests (SAT.)
LOWER CHAMBER
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE 1200 F.
POWER RATING Chamber rating is 11 KW.
INSULATION – The chamber is lined with a minimum of 4.5" of insulation consisting of a 2.5" hot face layer of 2300 F insulating firebrick (IFB) and 2” cold face layer of 1900 F mineral wool.
HEATING ELEMENTS Heavy gauge coiled wire mounted on ceramic tubes are located on the side walls external of the liner in the air stream for uniform heat distribution throughout the work area. The coil on rod design allows maximum radiation from the elements for faster heat response and temperature uniformity. The heating coils are designed with a low watt density longer element life. Ceramic tubes support the lead wires through the insulation and are connected to terminal bolts in the rear of the furnace.
FAN & MOTOR A high CFM 304 stainless steel fan assembly mounted through the rear wall is V =elt driven by a heavy duty motor.
ALLOY LINER A 16 gauge 304 stainless steel liner forms the work chamber and shields the heating elements and fan assembly. The liner directs the air flow in a horizontal pattern.
AIR FLOW – The air flows along both side walls between the liner and insulation over the heating elements toward the door and returns through the chamber providing uniform heat distribution in the work zone.
DOOR – A horizontal swing door constructed of heavy gauge sheet metal is continuously welded and structurally reinforced. The door is lined with a combination of insulating firebrick, mineral wool and castable to create a brick to brick seal for reduced heat loss around the chamber opening and low shell temperature. The door is mounted on angle iron hinges and opens from right to left, or as customer specifies. The perimeter of the door is designed with a 3/4" high temperature ceramic fiber gasket which closes against the faceplate forming a tight seal. An adjustable lift and turn cam latch handle closes the door.
DOOR SWITCH – A microswitch automatically shuts off power to the heating elements and fan assembly and the when door is opened, eliminating an electric shock hazard or blast of hot air to oven operator.
THERMOCOUPLE Two 14 gauge Type (K) thermocouple assemblies (one for controller and one for high limit controller) are mounted through the rear wall of the oven in the air stream between the oven liner and heating elements for rapid sensing of the chamber heat.
TUS PORT A manually removable insulated plug is located through the door of the oven to provide access for temperature uniformity survey (TUS) thermocouples.
SAT PORT A thermocouple port is located through the rear wall of the chamber within 3" of the primary thermocouple, for customer provided thermocouple, for system accuracy tests (SAT.)
