About this file
This document outlines the insurance requirements for a state and local contract opportunity with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation. The awarded contractor is required to purchase and maintain various types of insurance coverage, including workers' compensation, comprehensive general liability, property damage, and automobile liability insurance. The minimum coverage amounts are specified, and the Commonwealth or Department must be named as an additional insured party on the policies. The contractor must provide the Department with current certificates of insurance and comply with specific notice requirements for any changes or cancellations to the insurance coverage.
The document also stipulates that no work under the contract or entry onto Department property shall take place during any period in which insurance is not maintained by the contractor. This requirement ensures that the Commonwealth and Department are adequately protected throughout the duration of the contract, which may include any renewals or extensions.
