Questions & Answers
1. Is the Crestron source code available and unlocked for altering?
a. No it is not, technical folks feel the systems will need to be reprogrammed from scratch.
2. In the above referenced document the parts listed in the Scope of Work does not match the line items later in the document under product specifications. Can you explain/ elaborate?
a. Item 1 pertains to the bundling of 2 projects (update/upgrade of the existing media desk and the creation of a new media wall). Since the 2 systems would ideally be integrated, we opted for one single procurement package. So the items above are required separate from the required items in section 3.
3. There are 10 DM-NVX-E30 encoders on the product specifications list. Are we to assume that there are 10 work stations that will need to be able to share content onto the wall and where are these work stations.
a. There could be up to 8 sources for the video wall to match the 8 monitors in the SON.
4. What is the purpose of the 2 Crestron processors in the main AV rack (CP3N and PRO3)? PRO3 alone should be sufficient to control the entire system. In addition, bid is calling for ANOTHER Crestron processor (CP4N) on top of what is already there.
a. The existing system is used to drive the media desk and the new system is a replacement/upgrade of the existing system
5. What is the purpose for Lightware MX2 32x32 DVI matrix switcher on top of the Crestron DM-MD16x16 matrix switcher? Are they both being used and if yes, what are the inputs and outputs of each exactly? Crestron DM-MD16x16 matrix should be sufficient to route all video signals.
a. The technical details of how to best integrate the new video wall with existing A/V systems is best left at the discretion of the vendor and the bidding process
6. What is the intent for 4 (New in Box) Crestron DM-TX-201-C transmitters exactly? They are limited to 1080p and cannot push 4K video signal that the Crestron DM-MD matrix switchers from above are capable of. VGA connectors are analog and no longer used in the commercial space and it is highly recommended that these transmitters are replaced with the current 4K version instead if the intent is to use Crestron DM platform. For Crestron NVX environment, these transmitters shall not be needed.
a. We want to be able to support 4K.
7. How exactly is the current Christie Digital Vista Systems Spyder graphics processor being used and how is it being controlled? Shall it be part of the new system design?
a. Existing Spyder system is no longer functional
8. Crestron touch screen at the media desk is out of order and not controlling anything. Is the intent to repair it, reprogram it or perhaps replace it with a larger model? Will XPanel be required?
a. Repair and restore to original functionality.
9. Is Extron SMP 300 streamer and recorder going to be repurposed in the new system?
a. The technical details of how to best integrate the new video wall with existing A/V systems is best left at the discretion of the vendor and the bidding process
10. Shall the new 4x2 video wall function as a standalone system or shall it become tethered to the existing system?
a. We are open to either option depending on the technical details, cost, and risk associated with tethering to existing system
11. New rack was specified in the bid. Where shall it reside exactly, and shall it be tied to the existing AV rack?
a. It will reside near the existing AV rack. If necessary it will be tied to the existing rack.
12. What is the purpose for the 10 bid-specified DM-NVX-E30 Crestron encoders exactly and where shall they be installed?
a. Upgrade of existing capabilities at the media desk.
13. Who shall be responsible for the installation of the new CAT6 cables for the DM-NVX platform and will the existing Digital Media 8G CAT6 cables remain in place?
a. The vendor receiving the award
14. Shall there be enough bandwidth for all endpoints to sit on the LAN (1 Gigabit each) or shall they be on a separate VLAN and standalone?
a. Question is specific to the details of the winning bid
15. Who shall provide required POE network switch with IGMPv2 querier and snooping as well as PIM SPARSE mode and where shall it be housed? Specified Cisco switch has been discontinued and not fully compatible with the minimum requirements from above.
a. A suitable replacement will be allowed as long as it meet requirements and is readily available at the time of award
16. What exactly is the purpose in THIS system of the bid-specified Crestron XiO Director that is not required for the system to work and cannot be expanded?
a. Upgrade/repair of existing media desk system
17. Where exactly shall the bid-specified 65” display and wall mount reside?
a. Adjacent to the media wall in the area where a small digital clock currently resides
18. Will you consider purchasing and storing a spare display for the video wall that is from the same batch as the other 8 and calibrated alike in case of failure?
a. Not at this time
19. Where shall new bid-specified 10” Crestron control touch screen reside exactly?
a. On or near the existing media desk. The exact location on the media desk will be based on testing and user optimization
20. Is the new Crestron programming required and if not, is there an existing source code that is not compiled?
a. New Crestron programming required.
21. Shall the new Crestron control programming be tied to the existing AV system or standalone?
a. We are open to either option depending on the technical details and risk associated with tying into to existing system
22. Shall the electrical contractor install in-wall enclosures such as Chief PAC527LFW behind the video wall displays to house the Crestron decoders or shall they be just surface wall mounted?
a. This question depends on the technology associated with the winning bid. Once awarded, the vendor will be placed in touch with a commercial electrical company to discuss specific requirements per the nature of the award.
23. What is the intent for the bid-specified (New in Box) Crestron DM-RMC-4KZ-SCALER-C?
a. Upgrade of existing media desk
24. Are either the new system design or “as-build” drawings for the existing system available for review? Drawings shall be essential if the old and new systems are being tied together.
a. Already provided.
25. How shall bid-specified dimmer system exactly interface with the Crestron control system and who shall supply it? Is there a Low Voltage Controller or interface box available for this to happen? Is this dimmer system new or existing?
a. System is independent of the Crestron control system. The dimmer system is new.
26. Shall UPS be required at the AV rack for the mission-critical components? Bid currently calls out a power surge protector with 8 outlets only.
a. This question depends on the details associated with the winning bid. Once awarded, the vendor will be placed in touch with a commercial electrical company to derive specific requirements. If achievable, the AV rack should be placed on the UPS.
27. Would you consider video wall displays with the remote power feature located at the AV rack to cut the electrical infrastructure costs out?
a. If this is appropriate and meets desired requirements.
28. How long and what type of onsite warranty is required if any issues arise? 24/7 or “next business day”? Either way, we recommend 3-years for best savings up front but 1-year is standard.
a. 1-year warranty
29. Would you consider the installation deadline extension, given the profile and sensitivity of the project, hurricane season ahead and shortage of the semiconductors that is causing massive delays currently?
a. NHC is aware of the semiconductor shortage and how that might affect project timing
