Solicitation Q&A
Question 1: Is there a site visitation scheduled, or pictures available? So that we can see the existing installation. (note from Steph: If possible, it would be a good idea to allow site visits. Would the POCs for each site on the SOW be the best for scheduling?)
Answer 1: A site visitation can be scheduled for each location: Palmer (UPS replacement plus comms card); Anchorage (Comms card only), Fairbanks (Batteries and Comms card). Please review the revised Combined Synopsis attachment for contact information.
Question 2: Is there currently network cabling at each UPS to connect to the communication card Answer 2: NWS will provide network cabling to each UPS from our local switch. We will configure each card for an IP address and connectivity to the network via the comms card.
Question 3: At the Palmer location we are supposed to remove and replace the cabling between the UPS and the Bypass cabinet. What is the distance between the UPS and the bypass cabinet?
Answer 3: Photo attached. Horizontal separation between cabinets is 15 inches. Two 3-inch conduit runs between UPS and Bypass Cabinet are approximately 8 feet long each. In prior reviews by another company, the conduit there should be adequate.
Question 4: Do you have the model and serial number from the Fairbanks UPS so the factory can provide the correct batteries for the UPS.
Answer 4: Mitsubishi 1100A 40-KVA / Serial # 21-7M86723-01
Question 5: Task 2 calls for electrical drawings for this location. The scope of this site is to replace 24 batteries and install a communication card in the UPS. Since there is no new equipment installed, what is required for the electrical drawing submission.
Answer 5: This requirement has been removed from the scope of work.
Question 6: Can the work on the UPS system be done during standard business hours M-F, or will it need to be completed after hours or on weekends?
Answer 6: Yes. We ask that work be done at all locations only during business hours M-F 7AM to 5PM.
Question 7: What is the input/output voltage of the currently installed unit?
Answer 7: See below photos for Palmer.
Question 8: What is the model number of the existing battery cabinet?
Answer 8: See attachments for Palmer (above) and Fairbanks (below).
Question 9: Do you have a loading dock?
Answer 9: NTWC is ground level, drive-up garage. Fairbanks has a method but not really a loading area that must be arranged through the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) with NWS.
Question 10: Who will transport the unit for the delivery point to the installation location?
Answer 10: The vendor's choice of shipper. This is how it has occurred in all prior installations.
Question 11: Are there any special security measures that need to be taken by the technician?
Answer 11: Palmer: No. Fairbanks: Just coordination onsite POC to escort into facility, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Question 12: Who will be responsible to dispose of the old equipment?
Answer 12: The SOW specifies to dispose of existing batteries, this will be the responsibility of the contractor.
