Statement of Need
Background:
The Lake City VA Medical Center has an urgent need to replace an existing Nurse Call System that is currently 40 years old. The current overall condition of this system is in very poor condition, not fully functional, and is often unreliable. The system condition has also been documented previously during our most recent Facility Condition Assessment in June 2019 and has progressively gotten worse since that time. The Nurse Call system being used on CLC-2, CLC-3, 2 North Building 64, and the ICU are currently functional, but with visual indication only of a patient need (Audible alarms are intermittent). Most of the Master Control Stations employed at the Nurses Stations are no longer functional or serviceable. We have exhausted all resources available through local sources. Remaining assets on the open market today are expensive and bought “As is” (No guarantee the parts are reliable assets). Additionally, this system is supported by an old system software program, and the local Vendor has stated that the laptop in use today may not last much longer.
Objective:
A Vendor is needed who can deliver and install a new and fully functional Nurse Call System that meets the needs and demands of the Veteran patient’s receiving care, and the Nursing Service Staff employed in delivery of safe and efficient Health Care in today’s Health Care Environment. A new Nurse Call System not only would improve on the Safety and reliability of a functional system, but would also reduce overall maintenance costs, improve on reducing system downtimes, and improve services efficiencies and offer additional matrixes for process improvements.
