Project Location: This project is located at: Pacific Northwest Research Station, Colville National Forest, 255 W 11th Ave Kettle Falls, WA 99141.
This is a supply requirement for a small, portable, lightweight, waterproof song meter recorders that communicate via Bluetooth to indicate battery life, location, and status of the recorder. The USDA Forest Service, Colville National Forest, has received funding for monitoring white headed woodpeckers, northern goshawks, and Clark’s nutcrackers within the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Project (CFLRP) boundary. Bioacoustics monitoring with acoustic recording devises is the most economically feasible and timesaving method to collect this type of data at a landscape scale. The recorders would need to collect hundreds of hours of sound data with the ability to be programmed for flexible sunrise/sunset times and limited need for maintenance/upkeep of batteries and data. The Pacific Northwest Research Station has tested various recording units as part of their Northern Spotted Owl bioacoustics research project and recommended the autonomous recording units from Wildlife Acoustics, Inc. to meet their similar needs. The Research Station is requesting this song meter due to their high-performance during use in projects that require recording in the field for months at a time.
This purchase will be made utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 13.106-1(b)(1) For purchase not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold
(it) Contracting Officers may solicit form one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only single source reasonably available.
