Text version
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Foss Therapy Severices Inc. for Gammacell Irradiators. This contract action is for regular maintenance, dose mapping, and calibration services that generate does distribution reports for both Gammacell Irradiators. The supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.
Foss Therapy provides regular maintenance, dose mapping, and calibration services that generate dose distribution reports for both Gammacell Irradiators. Other companies do not have the expertise to provide maintenance on the older model Gammacell Irradiators at the CDC. Foss Therapy guarantees service maintenance for the Gammacell Irradiators within 48 hours of notification which has been confirmed for previous emergency maintenance in the past. The excellent quality of past service and fulfillment of guaranteed notification response times from Foss Therapy fulfills our justification of current and future services. Nordion discontinued their Gammacell 220 product line in 2008, and it is also no longer providing maintenance services. Best Theratronics currently services gammacell irradiators for preventative maintenance although they are a foreign company which adds an additional burden for CDC access. The technicians with Best Theratronics are non-US citizens. This could add to the overall costs for travel, supplies, and any replacement parts not covered in the contract.
No additional offerors were considered. Foss Therapy Services Inc.is the only source for this requirement. An Internet search for vendors who provide maintenance on the Gammacell 220 including the Nordion and Best Theratronics websites. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to Paula Taylor contract specialist at Vga8@cdc.gov by 3:00p.m. on November 26, 2021 mailto:Vga8@cdc.gov mailto:Vga8@cdc.gov
