About this file

This is a Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract issued by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Office of Acquisitions for Requisition No. 26-006744. The NCI intends to award a single-source purchase order to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC (One North Broadway, White Plains, NY 10601-2310) for a Zeiss LSM 880 maintenance service agreement. The contract period of performance is 12 months after award. The maintenance agreement will ensure the Centre of Cancer Research (CCR) Microscopy Core's existing Zeiss LSM880 Airyscan super-resolution microscope remains in optimal operating condition, with repair and calibration services as needed to support hundreds of NCI researchers conducting confocal and super-resolution imaging for cancer research projects. The applicable NAICS Code is 811310.

This procurement action is issued under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1) authority for sole-source acquisition. Although the notice of intent is not a competitive solicitation, eligible responsible sources may submit a capability statement for agency consideration; however, submission does not obligate the government to convert this to a full and open competition. Interested parties must have active SAM.GOV registration and submit written expressions of interest via email to Ahmed Hassan (Ahmed.Hassan@HHS.gov) and Caran Fizer (Caran.Fizer@hhs.gov) by 10:00 AM on February 17, 2026. Requisition No: 26-006744

Intended Source: Zeiss

Period of performance: 12 Months After Award

Description of Requirement: Zeiss LSM 880 Maintenance

Agreement

This contract action is for the acquisition of services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC One North Broadway, White Plains, NY 10601-2310.

The Centre of Cancer Research (CCR) Microscopy Core has an existing Zeiss LSM880 Airyscan super-resolution microscope used heavily by NCI researchers for confocal and super-resolution imaging of biological samples related to cancer research. The purpose of the acquisition is to secure a maintenance service agreement with the OEM vendor, Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC., to maintain the microscope in optimal operating condition should any repairs or calibration be required. As a microscopy core serving hundreds of NCI researchers, the objective is to ensure the Zeiss LSM880 Airyscan microscope is functional and operating properly to provide users with “state-of-the-art” microscopic imaging for a wide range of cancer research projects.

The applicable North American industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 811310.

Period of Performance: 12 Months After Award

NCI will solicit and negotiate directly with Carl Zeiss, LLC for this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotations; however, eligible responsible sources may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by the agency. However, this does not compel the agency to change this acquisition to a full and open requirement. In other words, a determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Eligible offerors must have an active registration in SAM.GOV (SAM) www.sam.gov. Interested parties must also express their interest by a submission in writing via email to Ahmed Hassan (Ahmed.Hassan@HHS.gov) and Caran Fizer (Caran.Fizer@hhs.gov) and are due by 10:00 AM, Feb 17, 2026.

Only electronic documents via email will be accepted.
