About this file
This is a Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) pre-solicitation notice announcing NIST's intent to establish a sole source service agreement with Cameca Instruments for maintenance and support of a Cameca IMS1300 large geometry secondary ion mass spectrometer (LG-SIMS). The procurement will be executed as a firm-fixed price purchase order under FAR Part 12.102(a) and statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 1901. The NAICS code is 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a size standard of 34 million dollars.
NIST's Surface and Trace Chemical Analysis Group requires ongoing maintenance services to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime of the Cameca IMS1300 equipment used for chemical and structural analysis at resolutions ranging from micrometers to nanometers. The sole source justification rests on four factors: Cameca Instruments is the manufacturer of the equipment; its employees are the only factory-trained representatives authorized to support the IMS1300 in North America; no authorized third-party resellers are supported for services or spare parts; and no alternative sources exist for these specialized services. The response deadline is May 27, 2026. No formal solicitation package will be issued, and the Government retains sole discretion to determine whether to pursue competitive procurement based on any responses received. Interested parties should direct inquiries to Latish Walker at the NIST Acquisition Management Division in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
