About this file
This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) announcing plans to award a firm-fixed-price sole source contract to Tiger Performance Products, Inc. The procurement is for 10 configured flight helmet systems valued below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. The specific deliverables include: 10 MSA/Tiger LH050T Flight Helmets in Black Gloss (sizes: 3 Large, 4 XL, 3 XXL) with single clear inner visor, comfort liner, heavy-duty ratcheting chin strap, cloth draw-string helmet bag, and heavy-duty padded helmet/gear bag; 10 Tiger Fidlock Magnetic Chin Straps; 10 Bose A30 ANC/Bluetooth Helmet Kits with 4'–6" straight cable and LEMO plug; and 10 Viper 5" Amplified Electret High Impedance 90-Degree Pivot Flex Boom Microphones.
The sole source justification is based on Tiger Performance Products, Inc. being the sole manufacturer and exclusive provider of the proprietary Viper 5" microphone that must be fully integrated into the flight helmet systems to ensure compatibility, operability, and warranty intactness. The procurement is being conducted under RFO 12.102(a) authority (only one source reasonably available). No formal solicitation will be posted; instead, all responsible sources may submit capability statements with clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Responses and questions must be submitted to ronald.wilson.26@us.af.mil by 10:00 AM MDT on September 1, 2026. Interested contractors must maintain current registration with the System for Award Management (SAM) at sam.gov.
