PRESOLICITATION NOTICE: INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE-SOURCE CONTRACT
INTENDED SOURCE: University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc. – 310 East Campus Tucker Hall Room 406-Athens, GA 30602-1589
ANTICIPATED PERIOD of PERFORMANCE: 12 months from date of award
DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT:
Pursuant to the authority of 41 USC 3304(a)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Acquisitions and Grant Services (OAGS) intends to award a sole source contract to University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc. FDA has a need to gather data on L. monocytogenes in the tree-fruit production continuum, from orchards to post-harvest packing facilities in Georgia, as well as Salmonella in related watersheds in Georgia and Pennsylvania. Previous work in orchards within Pennsylvania shed light on L. monocytogenes movement within apple orchards and packing facilities. To build on this, examining stone fruit orchards in Georgia is needed.
Related to this, there is a need to survey Salmonella populations within Pennsylvania and Georgia watersheds. Since the total population present needs to be elucidated the use of CRISPR-SeroSeq is required to accomplish the exploration of total diversity within the examined watersheds.
The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 111339 Other Noncitrus Fruit Framing.
The Government intends to solicit and negotiate directly with University of Georgia Research Foundation, Inc and no solicitation will be issued.
