Text version
16 U.S.C.§1282(b)(1) Wild and Scenic Rivers Act; 54 U.S.C. §101702(a); and PL103-313
PL 103-313 requires the NPS to administer the Wild and Scenic River designation in collaboration with the Farmington River Coordinating Committee, consistent with the Partnership Wild and Scenic River model. The cooperative agreement with Farmington River Watershed Association provides funds to implement annual work plans of the Committee under direction of PL 103-313 and the Upper Farmington River Management Plan. The Farmington River Coordinating Committee has chosen Farmington River Watershed Association as the Committee member best suited to enter into a cooperative agreement with the NPS through a unanimous vote. Farmington River Watershed Association has been serving this capacity for close to twenty years and is therefore uniquely qualified. Farmington River Watershed Association is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization, with a long and successful track record as a regional river conservation organization working along with local organizations, towns, state and federal agencies in the watershed. Based on these factors no other entity could fulfill this purpose for the Farmington Wild and Scenic River.
