Synopsis:
This is a Sole Source synopsis published for informational purposes only.
The United States Air Force Test Center/Directorate of Contracting (AFTC/PZIOA), Edwards AFB, CA intends to issue a sole source contract to ATAP, Inc. for their Vehicle Half Shaft Steering Part requirement. The contract will be executed by means of other than full and open competition, due to the half shaft being a special order item and only available through one vendor (ATAP).
The authority permitting other than full and open competition is 41 USC 1901 - FAR 13.501(a). Supplies may be deemed to be available only from the original source in the case of the replacement half shaft being required to return 02L00161 to safe and serviceable condition is a special order item through a sole source vendor (ATAP)
The part required is only available through the preferred vendor (ATAP) and is required to return the vehicle to safe and serviceable condition. The part through the vendor meets or exceeds manufacturers specifications and is a direct replacement for the damaged part removed from the vehicle. Due to the age of the vehicle, most parts are obsolete and are not readily available through the local or worldwide market. This contract is for the part only, no service will be performed by the vendor. As a result of this market research, it is in the best interest of the government to move forward with a sole source acquisition to ATAP in order to fulfill the needs of this requirement.
