National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Cloud Platform Management Services Request for Information (RFI) Questions and Answers - Round 1 (Dated: August 10, 2022)

Question
NOAA Response
1.
RFI 3.4 Engineering Support v. Integration - Please explain the differences between Engineering Support and Integration.

· For example, is the Government seeking to understand how vendors approach the internal engineering of their product (“engineering support”) versus how vendors approach interoperating with other third-party vendors (“integration”)?

System Integration is the ability to tie all the disparate systems such as Basic Services, Advanced Services, Archive, Web-tier access. After this system integration, an IT term is the orchestration of the integrated systems to perform the stated OADR goals. Systems engineering support is more focused on software and complex systems installation, maintenance, and updating.

The system integrator ties the products together and orchestrates their proper presentation while the support team works at the lower, code-base level.

2.
RFI 3.5 Integration of Services into IaaS (Optional) - How can you expand selected services for integration into IaaS?

· Is the Government seeking to understand how vendor capabilities can be integrated into either the Government’s existing infrastructure or another third-party vendor’s infrastructure?

Yes. The government will have an infrastructure that most likely will be commercial and we want to know if the respondent can integrate their capabilities within it. E.g. Can the respondent work within an Amazon cloud?

3.
Question on the ability to comply with Government considerations and constraints: NOAA N-Wave for transport to various nodes

· Does the Government have specific concerns with network connectivity that they would like industry to address?

No specific network connectivity concerns.

4.
Would NOAA consider receiving input and feedback in an alternative format than the Google form?
If you are unable to submit via Google Form, you can provide your responses in the excel spreadsheet template in the “Attachment/Links” section and return it to Jane Bu (jane.bu@noaa.gov).
5.
Can NOAA accept feedback in MS WORD?
We recommend that you submit as much of your response in Google Forms (or EXCEL template if you’re unable to submit via Google Forms) and supplement your submittal with responses in MS WORD or PDF. You can submit attachments directly in Google Forms or email to Jane Bu (jane.bu@noaa.gov).
