Questions

1. Who is the incumbent contractor?

George Patrick Johnson Ph.D.

2. Approximately how many NNI awards does NSF grant each year?

There are about 1,400 new awards and over 5,000 active awards each year.

3. Approximately how large is the NSF’s NNI research portfolio?

The annual budget is about $425 million.

4. Though the NSF evaluates funding proposals on a rolling basis, is there a time of the year when the NSF makes the majority of its awards?

The awards are made by all research directorate year around, and several solicitations do not change this characteristic.

5. Has the NSF reported previously on the output of the NNI?

Yes, internally.

If so, are these reports available to view?

The internal reports are not published If so, did NSF receive outside support to create them? From whom?

No outside financial support.

6. How many NSF staff will the offer or interact with (in the Directorate for Engineering and/or in the NSF organization generally)?

Two lead persons for data collection.

7. Can you describe the draft and/or pass-back cycle, if any, before submission of the final written report?

The reports are prepared as requested, typically each 3-4 months.

8. Will any in-person meetings be required?

Yes.

If so, how many and/or how often?
Frequent meetings are needed for data collection and reporting.

9. What performance metrics will NSF use for the offeror’s performance?

Responding to the offer as close as possible.

10. Is there an estimated distribution of the approximate 340 hours per year? (i.e., does the NSF anticipate the work will be spread evenly across 12 months? Or will effort vary depending on certain factors, such as award seasons?)

The effort is distributes as a function of the awards made by NSF.

11. Has a budget been proposed for this contract?

All public information is in the offer.
