WALLOPS AIRFIELD REPAIR FCLP PHASE 3, IFB NNG16582778E
INDUSTRY QUESTIONS
4. At what station does all new asphalt pavement stop on Runway 10-28? Sheets
CD, CG and CS-114 all seem to have asphalt stopping at station 36+00 but, there is also a note on each sheet, above taxiway Charlie, requiring milling of AC pavement to PCC interface and variable thickness AC overlay to meet finish grade.
NASA RESPONSE: Yes, the runway paving is to 36+00. Taxiway Charlie also requires milling to the PCC interface and variable thickness AC overlay.
5. Does asphalt stop at station 36+00?
NASA RESPONSE: Yes.
6. Is there new pavement at the north end of taxiway Charlie?
NASA RESPONSE: New work crack seal and overlay at transition.
7. Is there any crack sealing after milling in asphalt areas?
NASA RESPONSE: Yes. See note New Work note 7 on CG sheets.
8. No Overcutting of PCC and Spalls, this will cause chipping of corners which may enlarge surface area to be repaired. Clarification dated May 25, 2016 calls for sealant. Final elevation of joint sealant to be 1/8’’ below surface of minimize
FOD. The manufacture recommends of 3/8’’ to ½’’ from surface to allow for thermal expansion of concrete in hot weather causing an added FOD problem.
NASA RESPONSE: Construct as per contract documents 1/4 +/- 1/16.
9. How will the sealing of cracks in bituminous pavement be measured and paid for?
NASA RESPONSE: From STA 25+00 to STA 36+00 provide 5,500 LF of AC crack sealing. The average width and depth of cracks is 3/8 inch. Do not seal cracks that are less than ¼ inch wide.
10. Is there a new work schedule of values for the sealing of cracks in bituminous pavement, similar to sheet CS-601?
NASA RESPONSE: From STA 25+00 to STA 36+00 provide 5,500 LF of AC crack sealing. The average width and depth of cracks is 3/8 inch. Do not seal cracks that are less than ¼ inch wide.
11. I see there is a typical for concrete partial depth patching. How will the asphalt concrete partial depth patch be measured and paid for?
NASA RESPONSE: Only if needed. The note “to see schedule” is an error.
12. Is there a new work schedule of values for the asphalt concrete partial depth patch, similar to sheet CS-601?
NASA RESPONSE: No.
13. Is there any sealing of cracks under the area that receives sealcoating?
NASA RESPONSE: No crack sealing is anticipated in areas receiving sealcoating.
