NNC16QA24P SPECS

SOW

This procurement is to acquire temperature instrumentation, which will be used to both determine fluid temperatures as well as to calculate heat loads from the structural elements. As such there is a variety of sensors needed both in mounting and uncertainty. The general temperature of operation range from 20 K to 300 K and uncertainties were calculated based on target system uncertainties.

The silicon diodes the project is seeking are typically used to measure temperatures in the cryogenic range. The SHIIVER project will be using the sensors to measures temperatures of roughly -253°C or commonly associated with liquid hydrogen. The project is seeking a 4-wire sensor which has Phosphor Bronze extension leads.

SPECS

eCryo SHIIVER Temperature Instrumentation Requirements Specification February 29, 2016 Rev 1

SCOPE of SUPPLY The scope of this procurement covers the temperature instrumentation required for the Structural Heat Intercept, Insulation, and Vibration Experiment Rig (SHIIVER) at Glenn Research Center. SHIIVER is a 4 m diameter liquid hydrogen tank with structural elements both above and below it to simulate thermal paths on launch vehicles. Testing will occur both in a thermal vacuum chamber as well as acoustic room. The temperature instrumentation will be used to both determine fluid temperatures as well as to calculate heat loads from the structural elements. As such there is a variety of sensors needed both in mounting and uncertainty. The general temperature of operation range from 20 K to 300 K and uncertainties were calculated based on target system uncertainties.

1. Tank Surface Temperatures:

a. Temperature Range: 20 K – 300 K

b. Sensor High Temperature Survivability: Sensor must be able to survive temperatures up to 380 K for durations up to several hours while unpowered

c. Sensor Uncertainty: ± 0.25 K up to 100 K and ± 0.5 K above 100 K

d. Sensor leads: Phosphor Bronze, 36 inch long (min)

e. Mounting: epoxy to surface (by gov’t)

f. Packaging: bare chip

g. Quantity: 81

2. Fluid Temperatures:

a. Immersed fluid: hydrogen

b. Temperature Range: 20 K – 300 K

c. Sensor Uncertainty: ± 100 mK at 20 K

d. Sensor leads: Phosphor Bronze, 36 inch long (min)

e. Mounting: TBD (by gov’t)

f. Packaging: bare chip

g. Quantity: 55

3. Structural Temperatures:

a. Temperature Range: 20 K – 300 K

b. Sensor Uncertainty: ± 250 mK at 20 K

c. Sensor leads: Phosphor Bronze, 36 inch long (min)

d. Mounting: epoxy to surface (by gov’t)

e. Packaging: Copper Bobbin

f. Quantity: 54

4. Acoustic Survivability: The sensors need to be able to survive acoustic environments in an unpowered situation (there will not be power for the temperature instrumentation during acoustic testing). The total estimated acoustic power level is 158 dB over durations on the order of a few minutes.

5. Data Acquisition System & electronics: The data acquisition system to be used by the gov’t is a COBRA based system. The test facility also has appropriate Lakeshore Model 121 current sources. Temperature sensors will be read as a voltage input with either the standard curves (provided by the vendor) or instrument specific calibration curves (provided by the vendor, traced to serial number). Other electronics or data conversion hardware that is required for readout should be included in this quote.

6. Delivery Destination:

The vendor/supplier shall include in their firm-fixed price cost proposal to the Government, FOB shipping or delivery costs of the temperature instrumentation to the following location:

Attn: Keith Johnson NASA Glenn Research Center 21000 Brookpark Rd M/S: TBD Cleveland, OH 44135

7. Documentation Deliverables:

The vendor/supplier shall provide at a minimum the following documentation at time of equipment delivery:

Calibration Curves for temperature instrumentation (traced to serial number when applicable) Instructions for installation of temperature instrumentation

8. Vendor/Supplier Proposal:
