Combined Sources Sought Notice and Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract

NIST (Notice ID: NIST-SS26-154) is conducting market research to identify alternative sources capable of meeting minimum requirements for Ferrovac ultra-high vacuum (UHV) equipment and related systems. The solicitation covers four line items: (1) a Ferrovac UHV Suitcase Package for Room-Temperature Transfer with integrated ion and getter pumps, battery-powered operation, bakeout capability to 150°C, dual shaft wobble stick manipulator, and secondary flag-style plate grabber (product codes FER-VSN40S(VRV)L, FER-WMG40(EMS)-PGWMEMS-0440-0092, FER-GRABSHOMADEMS); (2) a Ferrovac Storage Stack for flag and EMS sample plates with multiple drawers and linear motion control (product code FER-RECOMEMSSTACK); (3) a Ferrovac Support Trolley for suitcase docking with 300mm height adjustment, 360-degree rotation, and tilting capability (product code FER-FRMCARTZXRVS); and (4) a Ferrovac Fast Pump Down Dock with integrated liquid nitrogen dewar and heat exchanger capable of reaching 1E-8 mbar in 30 minutes or less (product code FER-VSCTDH40). All items are to be procured in quantities of one each.

The response deadline is July 30, 2026. NIST has identified United Mineral & Chemical Corp (K84NBZG5JNJ5) as a potential sole source but will pursue competitive acquisition if alternative capable sources respond. Respondents should provide company information, feedback on draft requirements with suggestions for improving clarity, competitiveness, and domestic content, detailed product specifications and country of origin, standard commercial pricing and terms, compliance capability with FAR Clause 52.219-14 if applicable, and existing federal contract vehicle information. The Product Service Code is 6640; NAICS Code is 333242. No solicitation is currently available, and responses do not obligate the Government to award a contract or make payment. After market research completion, NIST may publish a solicitation on GSA eBuy or SAM.gov.
