Questions and Answers NIST Solicitation No. NIST-RFQ-22-7300932 Cone Calorimeter with Annual Maintenance

1. The solicitation states that “Preference will be given to instruments which allow for simple NIST installation of cameras inside the enclosure.” Is there a minimum/maximum distance the cameras need to be from the heater/specimen holder assemblies? Can the cameras be mounted on the outside of the enclosure viewing the specimen through the enclosure glass?

Contractors are not required to provide or install cameras; there are no requirements regarding cameras.

NIST prefers instruments which would allow NIST to mount cameras inside of the enclosure with 5 cm or more distance from the heater and instruments which would allow NIST to adjust the height of cameras inside of the enclosure.

2. The solicitation states that “Preference will be given to enclosures that open horizontally rather than vertically.” Can a sketch be provided as an example? Is the whole enclosure expected to move horizontally or just 1 side of the enclosure?

No, a sketch will not be provided and NIST has no specific requirements about the number of sides of the enclosure that move horizontally. NIST will, however, give preference to enclosure doors that open horizontally, with horizontally understood as the way that a common door opens; this is easiest for NIST users.

The Contractor shall propose its best solution.

3. Is Oxygen supposed to be included in Point 1.5?

No, Oxygen was not intended to be included in Point 1.5. Please see the revised Specifications document attached.

4. Was the gas analyser specification based on the Servomex MultiExact? If so, does this model meet their requirements?

No, the specifications are not based on any specific product.

5. Does the offeror have to include gas cylinders and regulators? Or are these services readily available on site?

No, the Contractor is not required to provide gas cylinders and regulators. NIST has gas cylinders and regulators.
