Statement of Work Purpose The National Eye Institute (NEI), LRCMB (Laboratory of Retinal Cell and Molecular Biology) investigators require Fluorescence microscope in order to study protein trafficking, biological and functional study of different cell types in live and fixed format. These type of studies require super-resolution imaging and high speed imaging. The large FOV is important for capturing double the area of conventional optics, enabling users to gain maximum performance from large-format sensors such as CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) detectors, which is critical for analysis and quantification and unique to Nikon microscope.
Scope
Currently, the existing Nikon microscope in LRCMB is not functioning and all the researchers in this branch do not have access to any functional florescence microscope. However, we are reusing components from the existing Nikon, which is discontinued. Reusing those items represents savings of over $15,000. All these items are going to be disassembled by Nikon and they are going to apply them to the new machine free of charge. No other manufacturer can integrate those components onto their microscope, (which means we have to pay for all these components, if we chose different vendor). This scope is important for studying Retina biology and protein trafficking. This microscope is used for live cell imaging, supper-resolution imaging and their FOV system enables researchers to quantify their high-quality images, which is critical for the outcome of their research. This microscope is essential for cellular trafficking, signaling and functional study of different cell type. Importantly the user-friendly software and its accessibility, facilitates data analysis compare to any other vendors.

Government Responsibilities The Government will:
· Provide contractor access to the location where the new microscope will be installed.
· Inspect and accept the goods once installation is completed.
Responsibilities of the Contractor
· Coordinate delivery logistics with the government personnel.
· Provide a factory trained technician/representative that will deliver, unpack, and transfer identified components from an existing microscope to the new microscope.
· Provide installation and training.
Contract Type
This is a firm fixed-price type order.
Delivery Location:
Delivery shall be at:
National Eye Institute 6 Center Drive
BLDG 6 RM 131
Bethesda, MD 20892
Evaluation Criteria
Proposal is evaluated based on best value to the government and the contractor ability to transfer existing component to the new microscope to ensure the microscope is working correctly per the manufacturer’s standard.
